Nvidia GeForce 358.70 Beta (GameWorks VR)

Though we don't usually cover these dev drivers here on VideoCardz and not for any particular reason, it's an important beta update nonetheless for VR development. Driver is compatible with only 64-bit versions of Windows Vista, 7, 8, and 10.

Nvidia GeForce 358.70 Beta Release Notes

  • Recommended that all VR developers upgrade to this driver
  • Updated driver support for GameWorks VR SDK
  • Notebook support added
  • VR SLI enhancements
  • General bug fixes

Quick Highlights: Game and Application Developers

tw9Ey1ss.jpgVR SLI provides increased performance for virtual reality apps where multiple GPUs can be assigned a specific eye to dramatically accelerate stereo rendering. With the GPU affinity API, VR SLI allows scaling for systems with >2 GPUs.

6j5e5sds.jpgMulti-Res Shading (SDK support coming soon) is an innovative new rendering technique for VR whereby each part of an image is rendered at a resolution that better matches the pixel density of the warped image. Multi-Res Shading uses Maxwell’s multi-projection architecture to render multiple scaled viewports in a single pass, delivering substantial performance improvements.

Nvidia GeForce Experience 2.7.3.0 Beta

Please note that if you already have GeForce Experience installed you can normally update directly via that method otherwise update manually with the direct link provided at the end of this post.

Early Access: This update fixes a lot of issues that some users may have experienced and would advice those already in Early Access to update right away. Main fix is the bug I mentioned on the last beta that limited bitrate on recording to only 50Mbps that seems apparent on GM200, Nvidia know it's not just 4k that was affected -- now fixed for 2160p to 130Mbps -- as it affected all resolutions yet notes indicates otherwise (edit: confirmed that other resolutions including 1440p is fixed to 50Mbps). Share overlay stability is improved, ie flickering or crashing apps. Streaming services have been tweaked to improve stability and usability.

Note: If you were unable to overclock GPU in Windows 10 please wait for the next driver update for this to be fixed.

Nvidia GeForce Experience 2.8.0.80 Beta

Please note that if you already have GeForce Experience installed you can normally update directly via that method otherwise update manually with the direct link provided at the end of this post.

Following feedback from the community and Experience bug submissions Nvidia have focused not only on new features but improving the overall quality of Experience with numerous fixes: Shield owners can sign up to SHIELDHub Beta to enable 4K GameStream (instructions below). Further to this, important fix to video not recording audio (again, another issue I raised with them), 'My Rig' watermark positioning, 'GameStream Co-op Chrome Extension' localization and GameStream co-op networking improved connectivity, Share overlay more stable and reliable (hope it stops flickering ingame when active), broadcast more stable, video thumbnails in Share overlay, and responsive mouse in Share overlay fullscreen.

Nvidia GeForce Experience 2.9.0.48 Beta

Please note that if you already have GeForce Experience installed you can normally update directly via that method otherwise update manually with the direct link provided at the end of this post.

Another impressive update to Experience. Capture gaming screenshots via Share, edit/crop/enhance screenshots in Share via the gallery option, Imgur has been integrated and supports resolutions of up to 3840 x 2160 (JPEG, if even this exceeds the 5MB per image limit Imgur itself will automatically downgrade the image), streaming services Twitch and YouTube Live now display custom overlays during broadcast and it's now possible to toggle an overlay to feature current viewer count, and an Ingest server custom selection that the likes of XSplit already features. That covers the main features, check out the Notes for the rest of the updates.
